Obituary for Arlene Reynolds

Anyone who knew my mom knows how much she enjoyed flying to Laughlin, Nev., for gambling and playing on the blackjack tables. She rarely missed an available flight.

Arlene Reynolds died Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, of age-related illness.

Arlene was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Grangeville, to Clarence and Alice Hancock Rowland. She was the first born of five children.

She married Fred Deniger. They had two daughters and were later divorced. Arlene married DeForest Reynolds in 1952. He passed away in 2003.

Arlene worked at Potlatch Forest Inc. (now Clearwater Paper) for 35 years before she and DeForest retired at the same time in 1986 to winter in Lake Havasu, Ariz. She moved back permanently to Lewiston in 2010. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, snowmobiling and boating, but really enjoyed her gambling excursions. She also never missed an invitation to go to Waffles n’ More or El Sombrero’s.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Diana Bull (Wally Neumann), and brother Frank Dillon, all of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Dan Hoover, Pam Hoover and Daryl Wheeler; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, DeForest; her parents; her daughter, Cathy Hoover; two sisters, Pat Colton and Jody May; and brother Jack Dillon.

Mom’s family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Medical Center staff, the Lewiston Fire Department, the EMTs and the wonderful caregivers, Karen, Jamie and Kristi.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens, with a luncheon following at “The Barn” of Guardian Angel Homes, 2421 Vineyard Ave., Lewiston.

“I’m writing this from heaven, where I dwell with God above. I am resting here with the angels who surround me now with love. But though I may seem far away, we will never truly part, for part of me lives on with you, forever in your heart.”
