Obituary for Robert Nelson Jr.

Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, we lost our beloved husband, father and friend.

Robert G. Nelson Jr., better known as “Bob” to friends and family, was born Oct. 7, 1954, in Cottonwood, to Patricia and Robert Nelson. Bob was raised in Winchester until 1962, when he and his family moved to Lewiston. This is where Bob would spend the majority of his life with a family of his very own.

After graduating from high school in 1973, he enlisted into the U.S. Army. Little did he know this would be the best decision of his life. Upon the completion of his military training, he was stationed in Germany, where he met the love of his life, Karin. He left the Army in 1977, the same year he married the woman of his dreams in her hometown of Weinheim, Germany. Bob brought Karin back to the states to start the adventure we all call life.

After starting a family of five, consisting of sons Chris and Jeff and daughter Kimberly, he started his career of 16 years at the Lewiston Juvenile Corrections Center. Here he acquired numerous friends and spent the majority of his working career.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Karin, sons Chris and Jeff (Jennifer) and daughter, Kimberly (Dylan Villopoto) and countless cousins and nieces, a nephew and friends. In addition to Jeff meeting Jen, he acquired three grandchildren, Brayden, Braxton and Jazzlyn.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert, mother Patricia and sister Debra.

A celebration of life and covered-dish dinner will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, at the 49ers Club in Tammany. We invite all friends and family to come share stories and fond memories of Bob.
